"The roles that different technologies play have not been sufficiently studied in relation to the social networks of people with LTCs, especially in relation to these non-kinship 'bridging' ties. This study will investigate the dynamics of technology mediated relationships with non-intimate others in order to understand their impact on the health and well-being of people with LTCs. The research will elicit the functions of such relationships and the contexts in which they can act as substitutes or alternatives to relationships with intimate others."
